Blumau Extravaganza #5 - Arab Emirates claims some respect

Two days ago I read an article on Huffingtonpost.com that made me think.

When I first saw the title "Emiratis Want Dress Code For Tourists" I was like: "OH GOD! HERE WE GO AGAIN."

I remembered the hideous "mini-skirt" Issue from Indonesia and started thinking: why those people have all that problems with clothes? Well, I read the article and understood that it wasn't nothing like the mini-skirt thing.

However at the beginning I was still kinda sceptical and ready to fight for the tourist's point of view. I mean, I wanna go to a place that I can dress the way I want. Right? Well....kinda.

Here's what
Asma al-Muhairi has to say:

"While going to a mall, I saw two ladies wearing... I can't say even shorts. It was underwear. Really, they were not shorts."; "I was standing and thinking: `Why is this continuing? Why is it in the mall? I see families. I see kids around."
Then I got it. It's sooo disrespectful. Everybody who goes to Abu Dabhi knows that they have specifically dress, and most important, behavior codes that comes from their religion, culture or whatever...

I'm from Rio, we have Carnaval and the tiniest bikinis on earth...however it doesn't mean you can come to my house wearing a tiny bikini to have lunch with my parents or go to the mall topless.

I'm A HUNDRED per cent pro-Dress Code for tourist on Abu Dabhi.

People should respect the others' beliefs and culture, specially on their homes.

If you can't put some pants on, forget Abu Dabhi, come to Rio.

Blumau extravaganza #3 - "Don't blame my mini-skirt."

My brain was all over the place this week since I read an article on Huffington Post about the "War" against mini-skirts in Indonesia.

I spent my whole week trying to find a better reason for this war...I tried to find something strictly religious to understand but nothing was able to erase from my mind this phrase from the country’s parliamentary speaker Marzuki Alie :

"There have been a lot of rape cases and other immoral acts recently and this is because women aren't wearing appropriate clothes...You know what men are like. Provocative clothing will make them do things."

REALLY???

To all of you that are reading this, take your time and READ CAREFULLY :

"There have been a lot of rape cases and other immoral acts recently and this is because women aren't wearing appropriate clothes..."

Are u f*cking Serious? It means that women clothes are dictating the immoral behavior of the society? That man is saying to my face that the cause of rape is women clothes? Really? What about women in Afghanistan or Pakistan that are always with their bodies covered from head to toe and are raped aswell?

Are you kidding me?

"You know what men are like. Provocative clothing will make them do things."

What men are like? Tell me...
I know I can't put myself in that case case because I'm almost Lady Gaga but girls, I'm from Rio, the most hot place on earth, where girls are all over the place wearing bikinis, mini-skirts, bikinis with transparent mini-skirts...and I have two bothers. They are tall, they are strong and they are what people call MACHOS.

Guess what? They never raped anybody. My father never raped anybody. My hot neighbor that is washing his car, shirtless, right now, never raped anybody...

So please, somebody tell me "What men are like"?.

I'll tell you something about that. A rapist will rape a woman even if she's wearing a pair of jeans and a jacket. That's what a rapist do. He rapes.

Rape means that a sexually frustrated man needs to do something against other person disposal to feel strong, to feel like a man.

REAL MAN DON'T DO THAT.

So don't come with that "you know what men are like" extravaganza 'cause first : Yeah, I know a lot of men, I know what they are like and they never raped anybody.

Second : A f*cking idiot that needs to force sex and don't understand that NO means NO is not a man. THAT HUMAN-BEING IS NOT A MAN.

Man are so much better than that and we all know a few ones.

I mean after all, this whole thing is disrespectfull with women and much more disrespectful with real men, that sometimes or all the time have sex impulses or desires but NEVER rape anyone.

"Under Indonesian law, for a rape to be prosecuted it required corroboration - including the testimony of two witnesses. Women lived in a "realm of private terror", for any victims or witnesses who dared to take action were intimidated with death threats," - Ms Coomaraswamy, Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations, Special Representative for Children and Armed Conflict

Next time you decided to ban something, BAN RAPE!

P.s: Dear readers. You all know that I'm all about "I wish you love" and "Namastê" but sometimes I'm just so freaking angry with the world...I'm sorry for the speech full of rage.

bisou,
Blumau.

Blumau extravaganza #1 - "No more Phostoshop? WHAT?"

I think never in history I saw so many Fashion ads being banned like I've seen for the past years. Look what happened today:

"The British Advertising Standards Authority released a ruling Wednesday banning a print ad for L’Oreal‘s Revitalift Repair 10 because it used a digitally altered image of actress Rachel Weisz that “misleadingly exaggerated” how well the product works. The Authority also asked L’Oreal to stop using post production techniques (i.e. Photoshop) that “misrepresented what was achievable using the advertised product.”  - Styleite.com

WOW!!! STOP USING POST PRODUCTION TECHNIQUES? No more Photoshop?
Is that the end of world that everybody is talking about?

I mean, what's the point?
People are being decieved since all the Marketing Extravaganza started so many year ago. We know we are being decieved. We don't care. We just want to see surrealist beauty and pretend someday, maybe, we can be pretty too.

Nobody actually buys Revitalift from L'ORÉAL thinking that will look alike Rachel Weisz. We buy it 'cause of the nice package.

It's like a t-shirt at H&M that cost $5 to make and we pay $30, $40, $50 or even more.

I'm not talking as a fashion consumer but as an antrophologist wannabe.
Human-Beings need a few of fantasy in their lifes. We are just pretending that we believe in such non-senses promises, that our lips will be juicier, our eye-lashes will be sexier...

Come on. That's 21st Century, guys. We already know that if we don't feel good about who we are it's not a Revitalift that will make us feel better, but WE BUY IT.

It's our problem. It's me giving myself a gift. It's you pretending you believe that tomorrow you'll be hotter even getting older.

Who cares? Let us pretend. Stop banning. We are not stupid.
We know what we are doing and we are having a BLAST.

Are you feeling pretty?
I'm feeling MARVELOUS.
